Its been a while since my last post and a lot has happened since then! I thought it would be cool to pick up where I left off!
But before I go into a quick recap. Let me start by saying, from here on out, I plan to document my journey of being a woman living on this cool green and blue planet. It will be my outlet for your consumption and please by all means create your own narrative about what you see. K? Luv you much thanks.
OK! Now for a fast forward summary to July 2016!!!
I'm back in the US.
I've been getting on a lot of planes....most preferably window seats.
Gained a new found obsession with live shows.
Fell in Luv (like HAAARRD in Luv) then fell out. (Womp!)
I geek out on hot water and cured leaves.
The "getting on planes" thing primarily came from a cool new job I started.
Been keeping my body occupied with turning ideas to realities.
Meeting more interesting people
All right. now for some pictures! :
Literally hours after landing back to Philly I interviewed for that cool job I'm at now.
And I've been having LOAAAADS of Fun!
I joined up with a group of people to mobilize an organization we like to call:
The Sierra Leone Youth Association(SLYA).
SLYA started a little over a year ago. We have been doing a number of programs and fundraiser primarily serving the Sierra Leone youth in Southwest Philadelphia. From the moment we kicked off our first event, we have been super successful and getting tremendous support. Please check out our website: slya2015.wix.com/slya
Here is a recap from our FIRST Fashion Show
I signed up for a couple runs and as scary as it seemed at the moment, I got it done.
The Love Run 2016: I accomplished a relay run in my first Half Marathon. The Love Run is 13.1 miles total but my leg of the race was 5.6 miles. After finishing that run, I felt BIG. Big as in like a Giant that can conquer the world. BIG! And all it took was for me to just SHOW UP. I shared the race with those two lovely ladies you see in the picture.
Broad Street Run 2016: A couple nights after the Love Run, I wondered if I would keep up with the training/exercise routine I started for the Love Run and then this race ironically fell on my lap by way of a nudge/challenge from a colleague. The Broad Street Run was 10 miles total and I finished it up in 2 hours. It was not easy to say the least but I'm glad I got to experience it. If I am to do it next year, I know to diversify my training a little more to be better prepared for that distance(my knee was shattered for WEEKS).
Whenever I get 2 spare coins, I get on planes and sometimes collect passport stamps.
Manchester/London, UK: This was a 'Valentine's Day' trip with the ex-boyfriend. What a good time it was! For a week, I spent sometime between London and Manchester. It would have been so nice to have made an entire post about it. But what I will say about it is, if you're ever in Manchester please check out Gaucho Grill.
Bogota, Columbia: I have one of my sorority sisters in Bogota and thought it would be a great opportunity to get another passport stamp. Bogota was another interesting trip that I wish I would have wrote about. Again, what I will say is if you're ever in Bogota please check out, Usaquen, Bogota's little town in the city, and get the 'Parrilla robata de costillas' at Harry Sasson(sooo yummy).
Miami: Oh! Miami was such a COLORFUL Trip. Me and one of my close cousin/friend/twin randomly decided to head down to Miami, for in my mind, 'a sweet escape'. I could elaborate on what I mean by 'sweet escape' but as I said before this is more of a recap to get you up to speed with everything I will be writing about in the future. What I will say is, if you're ever in Miami, please check out Wynwood Walls for the best collection of graffiti/street art and some awesome photo ops.
San Francisco: This was a much needed unplug and unwind from all of what I find myself getting tied up in everyday. On top of that I got to spend some much needed 'Dr.Phil' time with my Best Friend. What I will say is, if you're ever in San Francisco and you want a quiet beach that is consider a nude beach, go to Baker Beach and also if you want a good night of dancing with music from ALL parts of Africa, got to Bissap Baobab.
Tea, Tea and More Tea!!!!!!
I've become a tea obsessive. I drink tea 3 times a day. I make my own blend of loose teas, bag them and take them on trips with me. Tea will save your life. Drink Tea.
I'd be remiss if I don't make mention about all the hair I've been doing. If you haven't already done so please check out some of my work on the website (go to the 'About Me' tab then click on 'My Work').
