So Im in the car with a colleague heading back to work after lunch.
I begin to crack up to myself because it dawned on me that its Wednesday!!! lol. Of course I have to explain my randomness. So it begins....I start to explain why I am laughing but first I had to explain what Geico is (and their reputation for random commercials) and then I had to explain what hump day means and how it relates to a camel (because at this company there is a 6 day work week; 1/2 day on Saturdays). By that point I diverted so far away from the humor that I just had to accept the awkwardness of me laughing at camels in offices lol.
For those that never seen the Geico camel commercials:
A camel walks into an office building as if he actually worked there. “Uh oh, guess what day it is. Guess what day it is. Huh? Anybody? Julie, hey, guess what day it is. Aw c’mon I know you can hear me. Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike, what day is it Mike? Wuuhahaha. Leslie, guess what today is.” Leslie is the only one in the office to acknowledge him and she regrettably replies “It’s hump day”. The camel then bellows a “Whoo Whoooottt!” It then cuts to the two musical comedians telling their joke about how GEICO customers are happier than a camel on Wednesday. It ends with the camel saying “Hump Daaaayyyyy! Yeaaaaa!!” Happier than a camel on Wednesday.
Funny Right????!!!?? (just laugh so I don't feel awkward again hahahaha)
It made me miss home today. I never thought I would miss watching random, sometimes irrelevant, advertising. And yes I have totally accepted my awkward nature because more time than not Im still the awkward one in the room because I start laughing or comment or react to things that are socially 'wrong place, wrong time'. Kinda made me wish I took a cultural sensitivity class before coming because I sure have been feeling a bit inappropriate at least twice every day since I arrived hahahahaha (not funny).
